At present, the number of pages in Word can only be read through the conversion to get the number of pages in word document, but this time is too slow.
DOCX files are a reflowable file format, so the total page count is not known until the entire document has processed.
You can observe this with MS Word if you open a very large DOCX file, the page could will keep increasing/changing for some time after opening as MS Word processes the file.
