Accessibility: Loss of Screenreader Layer in Long PDF Documents

WebViewer Version: 11.4.0

Reproduce:

  • I open the PDF Well-Tagged-PDF-WTPDF-1.0.pdf in accessibility mode in your showcase.
  • Then I scroll to one of the last pages
  • The html layer with the text information for the screenreader applications (css class a11y-reader-container) disappears on the first pages
  • This is also not restored if you scroll back to the first pages. This means that users can no longer read the content of these pages. This effect seems to be reproducible for all longer PDF documents.

Is there a way to fix this?

Best regards
Uli

It seems like you are experiencing an issue with the accessibility mode in WebViewer where the screenreader layer disappears when scrolling through long PDF documents. This can be problematic as it prevents users from accessing the text information on those pages.

Some things you can try:

  • Ensure you are using the latest version of WebViewer, as new updates may address this issue.

  • Check the settings for accessibleMode to ensure it is enabled correctly in the WebViewer constructor options.

  • Consider splitting the PDF into smaller documents if the issue persists with very long documents.

  • Test using different browser environments to see if the issue is browser-specific.

Hopefully, this helps you solve your problem while you wait for a human to get back to you.
