Choppy text rendered with Windows and Chrome

Q: On Windows and Chrome the text is choppy. Like so:

A: This is a current bug within Chrome on Windows with a common graphics driver:

  • Windows 10
  • Google Chrome
  • Intel UHD Graphics running driver version 30.0.101.1191

We have found a workaround until it is fixed which was found here: PDF rendering issues in Google Chrome on Windows 10 : Papers Support

This workaround required you to disable the Accelerated 2D Canvas. This instead uses the CPU to render the canvas.

  1. In Chrome, navigate to this URL: chrome://flags
  2. Search for accelerated 2d canvas
  3. Change the enabled to disabled
  4. Relaunch Chrome
