Does collaboration mode require the same URL file to identify changes?

Hello everybody!

Talking about the collaborative file editing mode, I would like to know if in order for it to work and for the annotations to appear on the screen of all users who are working on the file, is it mandatory that the file URL be the same for all contributors? How does the SDK understand that several users are working on the same file? through url+filename?
