Is it possible to use the WebViewer as an HTML editor?

WebViewer Version: 11.8.0

Is it possible to use the WebViewer as an HTML editor?
I have a WYSIWYG editor in my platform, but candidly I really don’t like it.
We really like using the PDF editor, and we are planning to upgrade to include the DOCX and XLSX editor features as well.

We were hoping there was a way to use the WebViewer as an HTML editor.

Has anyone achieved this? Or is there any guidance on how this could be achieved?

Thanks,
-Brian

Using Apryse WebViewer as an HTML editor is not a direct feature of the platform. WebViewer is primarily designed for handling PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and other document types, offering robust editing and viewing capabilities for those formats. The WebViewer does not natively support HTML editing in the same WYSIWYG manner as it does with PDFs or Office documents.

Some things you can try:

  • Consider using WebViewer’s capabilities to convert HTML content into PDF or DOCX formats, which can then be edited using WebViewer.

  • Explore integrating a dedicated HTML editor alongside WebViewer for a seamless user experience if HTML editing is necessary for your application.

  • Look into using the WebViewer’s annotation and collaboration features if your use case involves annotating or commenting on HTML content converted to PDF.

Here are some resources that might help you:

Hopefully, this helps you solve your problem while you wait for a human to get back to you.

Hi Bpieslak,

Thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use Webviewer as an HTML Editor.

We have no current plans to allow HTML Editing in Webviewer.

Could you give us some feedback on why you would want to use Webviewer as an HTML Editor?

Best Regards,
Mickaël.

Hi @mickael.vanstraelen ,

Thank you for the reply.
I am looking for a unified user experience, ultimately.

We have been using the pdf webviewer for several years now, and our clients really like it.
We are in the process of upgrading our webviewer license to include the DOCX editor, and we are evaluating the Spreadsheet Editor feature as well.

I was looking to see if the WebViewer also supported editing HTML to give us 1 user experience across all of the document editing capabilities that we offer.

Thanks,
-Brian
