Question:
I have an Office file that I saved with embedded fonts, but it seems that the converted PDF does not contain what was embedded.
Answer:
There are a few considerations that you will need to be aware of when embedding fonts into a document.
In some cases, Microsoft Word will refuse to embed certain fonts to the document as they may contain a flag that tells applications not to embed them (and not provide any warnings).
Please also uncheck the “Do not embed common system fonts”, option, as not all common system fonts are found in other platforms such as Linux:
Optionally, instead of embedding the fonts in the document, you can also consider installing the required fonts on the system you are converting the file on.
If this is not an option, you can also consider using our self serve font package as described in the guide here. The font package contains a good coverage of common fonts that are used. In addition, this package can be customized to add any additional custom fonts that are required by the type of documents you plan to support. Please refer to the guide here for more information.
