Excel file causes loading issue in Spreadsheet Viewer and incomplete rendering in PDF view (rows cut off)

Product:Apryse WebViewer (Spreadsheet + Excel to PDF rendering)

Product Version:11.11.0

Please give a brief summary of your issue:
Excel file causes loading issue in Spreadsheet Viewer and incomplete rendering in PDF view (rows cut off)

Please describe your issue and provide steps to reproduce it:
Hi Team,

We are facing issues with a specific Excel file when using Apryse WebViewer.

Issue:

The same Excel file shows two problems:

  1. Spreadsheet Viewer

    • Viewer keeps loading continuously
    • File does not fully render
  2. PDF View (Excel to PDF rendering)

    • File loads, but some rows are missing
    • Content is cut off after a certain point (around row 47)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open WebViewer
  2. Upload the attached Excel file
  3. Check:
    • Spreadsheet view → keeps loading
    • PDF view → rows missing after a certain point

Expected Behavior:

  • Spreadsheet Viewer should load the file completely
  • PDF rendering should display all rows

Actual Behavior:

  • Spreadsheet Viewer remains in loading state
  • PDF rendering cuts off content beyond a certain row

File Details:

The attached Excel file is a financial report (ILPA format) and:

  • Contains structured sections in a single sheet
  • Has content extending beyond one page
  • Uses Excel’s default print layout

Workaround:

We were able to resolve the PDF rendering issue by:

  1. Open the file in Microsoft Excel
  2. Select the full data range (all required rows and columns)
  3. Go to Page Layout
  4. Click Print Area → Set Print Area
  5. Save and re-upload

After applying this, all rows are rendered correctly in PDF view.

Question:

Is this expected behavior related to Excel print layout or page break handling?

Additionally, for the Spreadsheet Viewer loading issue, is this a known limitation when handling such Excel files?

Are there any recommended best practices or upcoming fixes for these cases?

Thanks!

My name is Christopher and I am a Support Engineer with the Apryse toolkit.
I have reached out to you directly via email to provide you with a hotfix for this issue.
Please reply back to that ticket email if you run into any issues with it.

Hello Christopher,

Thank you for sharing the hotfix and the detailed explanation.

I have replaced the existing SpreadsheetEditor.js with the provided version, and I can confirm that the issue with the Excel file endlessly loading has been resolved. The spreadsheet now loads and renders correctly in the Spreadsheet Viewer.

Regarding the second issue with incomplete rendering in the PDF viewer, I understand that this is due to the current print view limitation and that no further fix is planned.

Could you please confirm if there is any setting or configuration in Apryse WebViewer to ignore or override the print area when rendering Excel files in the PDF viewer?

Also, could you confirm if this hotfix will be included in an upcoming official release of WebViewer (e.g., 11.12.x), or if we should continue maintaining this as a manual patch on our side?

Appreciate your support and quick resolution on this.

Thank you

Hi Babu,

I am glad that it resolved the issue of the file loading like it was supposed to.
I am currently asking about the other information you inquired about and will update you as soon as I have more information.

Hi Babu,

I have confirmed that there is not another way with settings or configurations to ignore or override the print area being used.

This hotfix will be included in the May 27th update release, so you will need to use this as a manual patch on your end until that release.
